Why are we dancing on the Promenade?
Quite simply: "because it's a lot of fun!!"
It's the only regularly scheduled outdoor dancing event in the city.
There's a very casual and friendly atmosphere
We have a very appreciative audience - hundreds of people stop to watch, and they thank us for doing what we love to do anyway
It's cheap -- the fee to become a THIRD STREET SWINGER is only $5 a year (check the website to confirm)
My favorite thing is the reaction on the faces of the older folks when they see us. Their eyes light up, they start tapping their feet to the beat of the music, as we offer them an opportunity to flash back to their youth. Sometimes they stop us to talk about it.
People are always asking for references of places to learn, so those of us who offer lessons, can pass out a card or flyer
We have the fresh air from the beach, often the sun is shining, the music is playing, and we're dancing with friends -- if you haven't been yet, check it out.
